Maternity and Neonatal Advanced Communication for Personalised Care Training
All courses run for two days, starting at 9am and finishing at 4pm. The two days are not consecutive.
Before booking onto this programme please ensure you are available to attend BOTH days and the time is reserved in your diary.
The NHSE Maternity and Neonatal Programme aims to make care safer, more personalised and equitable. The Maternity and Neonatal Delivery Plan includes ‘Listening and responding to all women and families is an essential part of safe and high-quality care. It improves the safety and experience of those using maternity and neonatal services and helps address health inequalities…’
To fully embed effective personalised care, maternity and neonatal teams need to build the skills, behaviours and attitudes required to support personalised conversations with women and families. The NHSE Maternity and Neonatal Programme has partnered with the Health Coaching Academy to develop a bespoke two-day online training course for maternity and neonatal team members to better enable personalised care. This training course has been co-produced with maternity and neonatal teams and service users and is an accredited course with the Personalised Care Institute. There is no cost for attending this training in 2024/25. The course is open to anyone working in and with maternity and neonatal services.
The aims of this training are to improve individual experiences of maternity and neonatal services through the delivery of personalised and safe care, as well as supporting the resilience and wellbeing of maternity and neonatal team members. It will cover:
- Personalised care communication skills
- Listening with compassion and empathy to service users and colleagues
- Informed decision making
- Creating psychological safety
- Developing safe, compassionate, listening and learning cultures
Evaluation shows that as a result of this training, maternity and neonatal team members increase in confidence, improve their skills and knowledge and change their practice to better enable personalised care.
This is a two-day online training course and each day of training will be a full day. Participants need to commit to attending both days for the whole day.
