Responsible Officer Training
NHS England training provided by and delivered in partnership with the General Medical Council and NHS Resolution (Practitioner Performance Advice).
This training provides a valuable opportunity for responsible officers to share ideas, expertise and best practice and is open to:
- Current responsible officers (ROs)
- ROs who may have missed some RO training sessions (the previous modules)
- New ROs
- Potential future ROs
- ROs who may wish to refresh their training
Please note: Due to high demand, places for current or prospective ROs will be prioritised over members of teams that support the revalidation function and individuals taking an interest in the RO runction.
By the end of the day, delegates should be able to:
- Describe the role and responsibility of a Responsible Officer and be able to distinguish how it fits with the role and responsibility of a Designated Body
- Recognise and manage a conflict of interest or appearance of bias
- Recognise the characteristics of an open and fair culture and the impact of this on the workforce
- Know the process of responding to a concern
- Understand the protocols of making revalidation recommendations
- Know who to contact for support and advice
Some pre-reading and short assessments will be shared in advance of the day. Completion of which is a pre-requisite for delegates to attend and places will be managed accordingly.
