Thank you for choosing to attend Principles of Health Command Training if you are joining the On Call Rota or if you taking this course as refresher.
All On Call Colleagues have the duty to undertake Principles of Health Command Training in order to comply with NHS England Core Standards and meet National Occupational Standards underpinning Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response responsibilities.
Principles of Health Command Training is valid for 3 years.
The course aim:
Upon completion of this training, learners should be able to apply the principles of incident coordination when leading/coordinating the strategic response to incidents and emergencies in settings appropriate to their role and organisation.
Course objectives:
Describe the core legal drivers underpinning emergency preparedness, resilience and response
Describe internal and external command, control and coordination requirements to support the response to emergencies
Explain the purpose of an Incident Management Team
Examine EPRR concepts and terms to support knowledge and understanding when in an emergency response role
Examine the importance of situational awareness – how to achieve it and how to retain it
Develop a strategy to support and direct the response
Describe internal and external communication requirements
Outline post response debriefing activities.
