National Autism Team Webinar
To support plans to effectively meet the needs of the autistic population and support them to live well in the community wherever possible and, provide effective and therapeutic community, crisis, and inpatient care.
NHS England is inviting regional mental health, learning disability and autism leads, ICBs leads, commissioners and those with an interest in autism services to attend a webinar, which focuses on the key areas of development and progress delivered by the National Autism Team throughout 2024/25, including priorities for 2025/26.
The webinar will be introduced by Tom Cahill, National Director for Learning Disabilities and Autism.
Aims of the webinar
Provide delegates with information regarding the work that has been undertaken in the last 12 months to improve the quality, accessibility and acceptability of care and support for autistic people to better meet their needs, both in the community and in mental health inpatient settings.

- Highlight the work NHS England has undertaken to support regions and ICBS to implement improvement in delivering quality of and access to the all-age autism assessment pathway.
- Reducing Health Inequalities for autistic people by
- Testing a combined health check approach for autistic people, those with or without a learning disability, and people with a severe mental illness.
- Considering the needs of clinicians delivering psychological therapies services to autistic people.
- National work undertaken and underway to improve the collective understanding of autism and eating disorders, and the reasonable adjustments needed for autistic people with eating disorders in mental health services
