Invitation from Professor Bola Owolabi Director – National Healthcare Inequalities Improvement Programme, NHS England
Join us for an informative and interactive session as we launch the Community Languages Translation and Interpreting Framework (CLTI) for Action for the NHS which will help play a vital role in addressing healthcare inequalities through its actionable steps for improvement through tangible recommendations.
This webinar will be accompanied by case studies illustrating what is working well nationally, regional and locally – enabling learning through best practice.
In today’s multicultural society, the ability to communicate in more than one language, and be culturally and linguistically aware is becoming more important. With 1 million people in the UK unable to speak English well, this represents a significant challenge for the NHS and one that does result in poorer healthcare outcomes as well as serious patient safety concerns, ultimately contributing to increase healthcare inequalities across our society (Census, 2021).
What to Expect:
- Learn how quality provision of translation and interpreting services can support improvement in healthcare inequalities and patient safety.
- Contributing to the continued implementation of HIIP Strategic Priority 1: Restoring NHS services inclusively and Core20PLUS5 approach, through improvements of translation and interpreting services.
- Explore practical case studies on provision of translation and interpreting services in NHS healthcare systems and providers and learn from colleagues across the system.
Why do we need you?
As key stakeholders in the translation and interpreting space, we value your rich insight and knowledge to ensure that this practical tool can be implemented through the system and used to improve the provision of services.
What is in it for you?
Attending our event will provide you with the opportunity to make a real difference to the communities you serve, enabling a greater focus on reducing health inequalities and supporting those who require translation and interpreting services in their interaction with the NHS.
