A North East and Yorkshire Region Experience of Care Lunch & Learn

Experiences of Palliative and End of Life Care

Join this lunch and learn to learn about a recent study conducted by Marie Curie, the UK’s leading end of life charity, in partnership with NHS East of England, to understand first hand the experiences of palliative and end of life care in the East of England – from patients, carers and those recently bereaved.

The webinar is for anyone with an interest in actions to improve the experience of care and collaborative working.

Please note the event in your calendar ( there is a function above to support this) as the joining link will be sent out the day before the session

Everyone will be affected by dying, death and bereavement.  That can’t be changed. But the end of life experience can.  Everyone deserves the best possible care and support, reflecting what’s most important to them. Unfortunately we know that one in four people don’t get the care and support they need at end of life.

The Ambitions for Palliative and End of Life Care, first published 10 years ago, provide a best practice national framework to spur local action. On the lunch and learn we will hear to what extent the Ambitions are being met and be part of a discussion that acknowledges that provision of high quality, personalised, and proactive palliative and end of life care must be “everybody’s business” requiring a societal cultural change where dying, death and bereavement are seen as part of normal life.

The session will be led by Kate Vernon (Deputy Head of Operations for Marie Curie in the East of England) and Bev Pickett (East of England Quality and End of Life Care Senior Manager, NHS East of England)
