Clinical Engagement webinar (Green Plan Refresh)
In 2020, the NHS became the world’s first health system to commit to reaching net zero emissions. The Delivering a Net Zero National Health Service report set out the scale of ambition. The Health and Care Act 2022 reinforced this commitment, placing new duties on integrated care boards (ICBs), NHS trusts and foundation trusts (referred to collectively in this guidance as trusts) to consider statutory emissions and environmental targets in their decisions.
Trusts and ICBs are expected to meet these duties through the delivery of board-approved green plans. These plans now need to be refreshed in line with this statutory guidance by 31 July 2025.
As part of the South East regional support, we are hosting a number of webinars. This webinar, on Clinical Engagement, will cover the following themes:
• Overlaps between public health and sustainable healthcare: Government priorities (3 shifts), air quality, healthy lifestyles (prevention).
• Understanding our local demographic area and needs: Health inequalities and key policies (CORE20Plus5)
• Engaging workforce: Links with Net Zero Clinical Transformation, Royal Colleges, various guidance documents, and the impact this will have on the above bullet points
• Green Champions: How to support the staff who are engaged / want to work on this agenda, and enable them to work on reducing carbon emissions within their environments (e.g. CARES and SusQI)
• Available (free) training to support education within the workforce
